As with all other gatherings around the world, this year's Met Gala was put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but it appears that the fashion community will still have something to celebrate on the first Monday of May. In lieu of the traditional extravagant bonanza at the Costume Institute, Vogue is rolling out a live broadcast of this year's annual ball. Yup, The Met is going digital!

To honor and explore the exhibit, "About Time: Fashion and Duration," which has been rescheduled to open this October 29, Vogue's feature video will include animated photography from the exhibit catalog as well as an interview with author Michael Cunningham who penned the short story, "Out of Time," for the catalog itself.

Of course, there's a heavy dose of fashion. 120 looks dating back to 1870 will be highlighted, and you can also expect a throwback to iconic moments from previous Met Galas.

Lastly, it isn't a party without any music. According to Variety, Florence + The Machine is performing, and Virgil Abloh is DJ-ing a set—he even expressed his excitement earlier today on Instagram! Vogue editor-in-chief and Met Gala co-chair Anna Wintour will naturally make an appearance.

It may be the first time the Met Gala has gone digital, but that doesn't mean there's no reason to dress up for the occasion. Vogue is also inviting everyone to recreate their favorite Met Gala fashion moments through the #MetGalaChallenge. According WWD, award-winning performer Billy Porter will personally select the best looks which will be featured on the Instagram accounts of the Met Museum, the Costume Institute, and Vogue Magazine.

"A Moment with The Met" streams tomorrow on American Vogue's YouTube channel. Who's excited for this? We know we are!
