A few weeks ago, ABS-CBN’s Sunday noontime show, ASAP, introduced a new girl group to its viewers—the network’s finest, most promising young girls who are at the height of stardom. These ladies, all familiar faces, were tagged as the new “It girls.”
Kathryn Bernardo, Liza Soberano, Julia Barretto and Janella Salvador all do seem to be worthy of the It girl title. But really, what does it even take to be one? Below, each girls’ claim to fame:
Kathryn Bernardo, 19
Claim to fame: Fondly referred to as Teen Queen by the local entertainment industry, Kathryn started her acting career at the tender age of seven and has practically grown up in front of the cameras since. She has 2.5 million IG followers and an ever-growing pool of endorsements to boot. Plus, a top-rating primetime show.
Liza Soberano, 17
Claim to fame: Liza skyrocketed to leading lady status after starring on ABS-CBN’s hit primetime soap, Forevermore, opposite her on-screen partner Enrique Gil. The Filipino-American beauty, with her doll-like features and spellbinding good looks, is now the face of Kashieca, Palmolive, Belo Beauty and more. IG Follower count: 1.6 million and counting.
Julia Barretto, 18
Claim to fame: Hailing from a family of artistas, Julia Barretto is now enjoying her rightful place under the spotlight. With natural star quality and a brow game on fleek, there’s no telling how big of a star this girl could become. Come to think of it, she already has Pepsi, Jollibee, Pond’s and more endorsements up her sleeve.
Janella Salvador, 17
Claim to fame: Teen sweetheart Janella Salvador is most popularly known for her bubbly role as Nikki on the daytime drama Be Careful With My Heart, after which, she landed a starring role in her own drama series, Oh My G! She just recently launched her own album, too, and OMG—this girl can sing!
