Max made history as the youngest designer to be ever featured on the official Paris Fashion Week calendar.

Published on Mar 10, 2026
On March 3, Max Alexander presented a 15-look collection during the Fall/Winter 2026 run of Paris Fashion Week. Staged at the historic Opéra Garnier, the collection highlighted the 10-year-old’s affinity for environmentally conscious craftsmanship, with around 90 percent of the garments produced using recycled, biodegradable, or deadstock textiles.
The lineup drew heavily from florals and his own childlike imagination, turning the spotlight on Max’s impressive command of draping and garment construction.
Standout pieces included a voluminous ruffled dress assembled from 28 "Free People" shopping bags, an upcycled Indian saree reworked into a high-low gown, and a vintage 1980s wedding dress reconstructed into a new formal silhouette. The closing look featured a structured corset fashioned from a repurposed Hermès bag paired with a skirt cut from a vintage French military parachute.
Max first gained public attention in 2020 when his mother began posting videos of his self-taught dressmaking on Instagram. Six years later, his account, @couture.to.the.max, has grown to 6.1 million followers.
Who Is Max Alexander? Facts About the Youngest Designer to Ever Present at Paris Fashion Week
He’s a Pisces.
Max was born on February 27, 2016 in Los Angeles. He was raised by his mother, Sherri Madison, who is also an artist herself.
He attended an arts-based preschool.
During preschool, he developed an appreciation for artists such as Vincent van Gogh, Yayoi Kusama, Frida Kahlo, and Alexander Calder.

He started making clothes at 4 years old.
"He started draping before he could read," his mom wrote in a TikTok video.
Max began constructing garments using ribbons, plastic wrap, and fabric scraps, which he secured with knots and tape. His work gradually became more polished after learning to sew.
By age five, he was already taking formal sewing lessons. Within a year, Max already completed his first collection within a year. This milestone led to his debut runway presentation in Los Angeles in the summer of 2021.
He has frequently claimed that he was Guccio Gucci in his past life.
Max has shared his belief that he was Guccio Gucci, founder of Gucci, in a previous life.
In a 2023 interview with People Magazine, the then-first-grader and his mother said his deep interest in designing garments led them to believe he was an incarnation of the late Italian couturier.
That same year, his mother Sherri shared a clip from a conversation with Max. "I admit, sadly I knew nothing about Gucci before this interview so that's why you hear me sort of laughing at his answers. Until I googled them and saw how spot on many of them were," she captioned the post.
He holds the Guinness World Record for being the youngest runway designer in the world.
Max was bestowed the prestigious award following his presentation at Denver Fashion Week 2023. At the age of 7 years and 266 days, Max was cited for presenting his original designs, as well as personally selecting the models, makeup artists, and hairstylists to execute his collection’s creative direction.
He launched his own label, Couture to the Max, in 2021.
Since establishing his brand, Max has produced more than 100 original designs, staged independent presentations, and sold creations to an international clientele. Notably, Max has created custom pieces from Hollywood actors Sharon Stone and Debra Messing, as well as supermodel Coco Rocha.
