Remember Matthew & Melka, the young and fun diffusion line that accessory designer Ken Samudio named after his kids? Well, it’s now exclusively sold at online luxury fashion retailer, modaoperandi.com!
From being featured in Vogue Italia to Luisa Via Roma picking up his Swarovski crystals and plastics necklace, we say Ken is on an uphill roll. This is clearly a major career jolt for the designer, but wait until you hear how it happened.
By some unexpected aligning of stars, “a client of mine bought several pieces of my Matthew & Melka line. One of the jewelry buyers from Moda Operandi happens to be her friend and she fell in love with my pieces. She asked where she bought them and my client said it was from a designer in Manila. We were then introduced via e-mail.”
The rest as they say, is history. The buyer asked Ken to send over some samples, and as you would have guessed, the whole team approved. In awe of his creations, they even asked Ken if he would be willing to sell his line excusively at Moda for a year.
And seeing this as a chance to show the world his pure Pinoy works through a site he has admittedly been stalking since forever, of course he said yes!
We won’t be shocked if we see these precious jewelry being worn by a Hollywood celebrity real soon.
