More than a decade after Encantadia made its debut on Philippine television, GMA’s beloved “fantaserye,” now more exciting than ever, is finally back onscreen. Its pilot episode, which aired last night, caught the attention of old and new fans alike, even landing on the most-coveted top spot of Twitter’s trending topics.
The highly-anticipated appearance of the four sang’gres (Glaiza de Castro, Kylie Padilla, Gabbi Garcia, and Sanya Lopez) may not have made it during the first hour of its 2016 remake. But for a major primetime comeback, what better way to kick things off with a bang than with the TV network’s very own king and queen? Real-life couple Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera didn’t disappoint as the new Prinsipe Raquin and Ynang Reyna Minea, respectively—and not that we’re surprised, but the 31-year-old actress has managed (and quite effortlessly at that) to steal the show!
Decked out in a custom-made Francis Libiran creation, Marian is ferocious yet graceful in her portrayal as the queen of Lireo. Apart from her obvious acting prowess, it clearly didn't hurt to have an impeccable wardrobe, too.
In her first appearance, she stunned in a floor-length frock made with Indian silk brocade that's intricately detailed with metallic appliqués along the neckline.
Soon after, she changed into an edgier costume, transforming herself into a warrior donning red cape and a winged headdress.
To match her royal outfit, the queen also completed her look with a heavy-looking crown. It was a gold-dusted statement headpiece festooned with jewels and adorned with four colorful gems representing the elements of fire, earth, wind, and water.
If Marian’s wardrobe is any indication, then we’re guessing there’s still a whole lot more we are yet to see from the show’s 2016 remake. Let’s stay tuned now, shall we?
