Following his collection The Circle Is Not Round from last season, Emi-Alexander Englis is now looking on the bright side (literally) with Sol. Dominated by a palette of white, cream, and gray, his designs are inspired by the blinding glare of the sun.
He expressed this clearly through rounded rings of sheer fabric that presumably depict the human eye. It was an interesting silhouette, yet delicate all the same—there are even subtly done ruffles at the hem that could easily be interpreted as flowers.

Emi's sheer take on barongs were also a sight to behold. They were floor-length, cape-like, and sheer, as if the sun shone too brightly and cut through the piña fabric. The same could be said about one of his more unexpected looks—a pair of textured bottoms reminiscent of biker shorts. It was, of course, paired with a see-through piece to balance its sporty appeal.
As a whole, the designer once again showcased his flair for manipulating fabric. No matter how sheer or delicate, he manages to dress anything up or down at his command. The technique he demonstrated in Sol definitely shows for this, and it only makes us want to see more.
