Manila Fame 2013 Head over to the SMX Convention Center this weekend for a showcase of Asia’s best design talents.

People flocked to the SMX Convention Center yesterday for the opening of Manila FAME. Now on its third decade, this trade show continues to showcase the latest trends and innovation in furnishings, décor, art, and fashion accessories. This year, the trade show shone the spotlight on what they call the Millennium Home. Internationally acclaimed furniture designer Budji Layug worked with burgeoning designers Jinggoy Buensuceso, Wataru Sakuma, Olivia D’Aboville, Leeroy New, Inigo Elizalde, Eric Paras, and Ito Kish for the current collection of pieces made to entice this generation’s consumers.

Also featured around the convention center were Creative Hotspots, venues that mixed art and design featuring the country’s finest creative minds. Featured among the displays were the varied aesthetics of The Collective, Maginhawa Street/Van Gogh is Bipolar, 10a Alabama, and the RONAC Art Center

As the premiere source for lifestyle products in Asia, it was only fitting that Manila FAME partnered with Elle Decoration, the country’s only luxury shelter magazine, and Dedon, a luxury outdoor furniture brand. Together they concocted a pop up concept café operated by Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf. The café was designed by Jinggoy Buensuceso, a renowned sculptor, and was inspired by the nipa hut.

This was also the venue for the prestigious Katha Awards, an award-giving body that gives recognition to design excellence and innovation.

So if you’re looking for the finest Filipino crafts, spend the weekend at Manila FAME. The showcase is scheduled for March 14-17 at the SMX Convention Center.
