Make Your Own Havaianas is on its 7th year, and they show no signs of stopping! This year though, it’s more than the usual design-your-own event, they are also celebrating 50 years of fashionable comfort.
As we devoured cups of Kyoto Green Tea gelato at the launch night, Havaianas went through their history on-stage, complete with live sand drawing, Zumba performers and even the Philippine Futsal team. Havaianas was born on the shores of Brazil back in 1962 and still remains top of mind when it comes to fun, colorful, and comfortable flip-flops.
Signaling the start of the actual event was a shower of confetti and Anne Gonzalez, manager of Havaianas Philippines, thanking everybody who came to celebrate this golden anniversary. After that, the fuss began as people were all trying to figure out the best color combination to get and which of the pins to tack onto their slippers. The energy was incredible!
So what do they have in store for you this year? For starters, they have a variety of colors for the bases and straps that can cover the color spectrum, from tangerine to aubergine; the new Estampas base which comes in brown (for Top) and off-white (for Slim); and of course 12 new pins—the Happiness pin, 1962 pin, a soccer ball, embellished bow tie, aviators, a parrot, butterfly, heart, moon, crown, crystal and the Brasilipinas pin.
Another thing, for every purchase of the Happiness pin, you donate P100 to Operation Smile, a charity for children that provides free surgery to repair cleft lip, cleft palate and other facial deformities of children. Not only do you get a customized pair for yourself, you get to help a child too!
MYOH will be held in the Rockwell Tent from May 10-14, so be sure to drop by! They have provided a waiting lounge near the tent in case the line gets long—which always happens every year!
