Loving Lolita

Sweet looks armed with womanly wiles.
Loving Lolita Sweet looks armed with womanly wiles.

Play the naïve little darling in a slightly provocative way. This season's most stylish irony—sweet but sexy—has got us talking about Lolita. The young seductress in Vladimir Nabokov's 1950's novel. It seems that dressing like the heroine is one of today's biggest trends, and women can once again pull out the cute shorts and coy little dresses.

Talking about the precociously sexy style, you'll find that ribbons, lace, ruffles, and little girl prints like hearts and flowers are key to getting the look. While the fabrics are all sugar and spice, cuts tend to hint at wanting to grow up—corset tops and booty skimming culottes hint at (gasp) Britney Spears' earlier lyrics, "I'm not a girl, not yet a woman."

We've spotted the look about town, interpreted in various ways. Click on to see who's rocking this trend.
