Louis Vuitton is undoubtedly a household name in the luxury department. The French house founded by the brand's namesake, originally specialized in making hard trunk cases before exploring bags come 1901 with the release of the Steamer bag, which was meant to be stowed inside the trunks. Since then, the brand has produced many popular bags like the Speedy and Neverfull bags, which are popular until today. The Twist is of of Nicolas Ghesquière's biggest bag releases since he joined the French maison in 2013. Released as part of the brand's Cruise 2016 collection, the Twist is fashioned after the Trapèze clutch launched in 1988. The Trapèze is a flat bag in Epi leather whose lock featured the interlaced letters L and V to form the initials LV. When Nicolas entered the house, he took many inspirations from the archives and reimagined them into new classics. And so, the Twist is a reincarnation of the Trapèze, transforming the latter into a roomier tote with a modern sans serif LV monogram that breathes in new life to the budding logomania trend at the time.
Like the Twist, Nicolas' New Wave bag collection was conceived from the brand's history. The brand shares that the collection was inspired by a trunk from the archives that contained 12 pairs of shoes and featured multi-colored undulating stripes. It sat atop another trunk that bore the classic monogram toile that put the brand on the map since 1854. Meanwhile, the name of this bag is attributed to the '80s music genre that depicts a cool attitude and disctinct style. It isn't the first time that Louis Vuitton deviated from its neutral color palette. You'd recall that Japanese designer Takashi Murakami collaborated with the brand and produced the Multicolore monogram collection which had been recently discontinued in 2015, upon the departure of Marc Jacobs as Louis Vuitton's artistic director.
The Capucines bag is another favorite among Louis Vuitton patrons in the Philippines primarily for its minimalist and modest design. The bag was named after the Rue des Capucines in Paris, a street near Place Vendôme, where Louis Vuitton set up his very first store in 1854. The Capucines bag was created in 2013 by Nicolas with sophisticates as its predominant clientele in mind.
Tambour Moon Divine and Moon Star
Louis Vuitton is also known for its accessories, particularly watches. The Tambour Moon collection has become a popular choice and are best-sellers for the local arm of the brand for elegant design and openness to customization. The collection marked the brand's expansion to watchmaking in 2002.
The French house launched a futuristic footwear on its Spring 2018 show in the form of the Archlight sneakers which features a wave-shaped outsole with and oversized tongue. The bulkiness of the shoe is balanced by the low-swooping cut around the ankle for a more feminine touch. It's an instant favorite especially of influencers because apart from being a more sleek-looking take on the chunky sneaker trend, a bit of a height boost is a special secret of the interior design.
