Louis Vuitton’s identity has long been synonymous with the art of travel. Over its 171-year history, the French luxury house’s been renowned for its meticulously crafted trunks and luggage, distinguished by the now-iconic monogram canvas.

Its catalog has since grown to encompass a wide selection of leather goods—from handbags, wallets, cardholders, and more. Across generations, the Maison has become a universal reference for sophistication, craftsmanship, and enduring style.

What Is the Louis Vuitton Mon Monogram?

Available both online and in boutiques, the Mon Monogram is a personalization service, offered through an extensive palette of colours, typefaces, stripe styles, and patches to customize women’s and men’s pieces in classic Monogram and, for select items, Monogram Eclipse.

Eligible models include the Keepall, Horizon, Trio Poche Toilette Monogram, Christopher backpack, OnTheGo Monogram, passport cover, and several others in the Travel set.

Whether for personal use or as a thoughtful gift, Mon Monogram pieces carry sentimental weight. A vivid stripe can symbolize transformative journeys, while initials may honor someone important.

This updated edition of Mon Monogram will continue expanding with new materials, silhouettes, and motifs.

The History of the Louis Vuitton Mon Monogram

Personalizing trunks has been integral to the House since 1871. What began as a practical way to differentiate one’s belongings on crowded voyages soon evolved into a detail that lent character and individuality to each piece.

Louis Vuitton carried this spirit forward through the decades. The Gaston-Louis Vuitton Steamer bag from 1901 showcased bold graphic elements on canvas, while a 1911 trunk customized for couturier Paul Poiret—with his name hand-painted across the surface—highlighted the artistic potential of customization. By the 1920s, the Maison even offered a dedicated service enabling clients to design their own monogram.

This commitment to tailor-made pieces remains central to Louis Vuitton’s identity.

In 2008, the House reintroduced personalization through an expanded service that invited clients to reinterpret their chosen pieces in contemporary ways.

Today’s Mon Monogram builds on that foundation with an even broader selection of models and motifs. Travel bags, rolling luggage, everyday accessories, city silhouettes, and small leather goods can all be personalized to order and are crafted by artisans in France. The relaunch reaffirms Louis Vuitton’s origin as a maker of special orders—honoring its heritage while adapting to modern tastes.

How Much Are the Pieces From the LV Mon Monogram Line?

The process begins with selecting an item, followed by choosing from an array of colours for initials and optional stripes. Clients may also opt for vintage-inspired patches, referencing artistic movements like the Belle Époque or Art Nouveau, which can be arranged in groupings or specific layouts. Each configuration results in a one-of-a-kind piece.

The Mon Monogram line offers countless combinations. Production uses a three-layer digital-printing technique to achieve vivid tones and crisp detailing. Once an order is submitted, the turnaround time is streamlined to approximately three weeks.
