Retro dressing is at it again with another trend revival we're excited to try. Pedal pushers or capris are back en vogue as we spotted them on the runway of international designers including Dolce & Gabbana, Maryam Nassir Zadeh, and Chanel.
These calf-length, form-fitting trousers were popularized in the '50s and '60s by Jackie Kennedy and Audrey Hepburn, who styled these bottoms with simple yet classic turtlenecks and tees. The '90s saw Britney Spears and Jennifer Lopez sporting them with belly-baring cropped tops. This time around, pedal pushers are given a refined, high fashion makeover for a contemporary flavor. Scroll down for proof!
Chanel shows that pedal pushers are best worn with structured or oversized tops to balance the pants' thigh-hugging silhouette.
For a casual OOTD, Chloe is making a case for denim capris paired with printed ankle boots. They give an edgy note to the overall look, too.
But if you want to play it safe, Jacquemus suggests wearing one in black to achieve its full slimming effect on your calves. Just don't forget to pair it with heels to accentuate your legs even more!
So what do you think? Are you buying a pair soon?
