After months of rising anticipation, The Broken Marriage Vow is now available for streaming on Viu! With direction and costume design by Connie Macatuno, the World of Married remake is currently garnering praise for Jodi Sta. Maria's stellar performance and the proudly local wardrobe. Since the inception of the series, Macatuno was dead set on promoting Filipino fashion designers by dressing the characters exclusively in homegrown creations. She apparently approached the designers one by one to explain her vision and invite them to take part in the show!
Vogue Italia-recognized designer Ken Samudio, who lent some bags and jewelry to the production, took to Facebook to relate the process of the costume preparations, and the impact the show had on Filipino designers.
"It was when Direk Connie related to us ever-so passionately how she wanted to incorporate an all-Filipino made wardrobe and accessories for the show that got me excited and inspired," he wrote. "She was wide-eyed and dreamy about her idea that you can’t help but to feel elated and just...empowered."
"No local show has ever come up with the great idea of using Filipino-made clothes and accessories in an unprecedented decision to introduce the Filipino brands to a wider audience," he continued. "Veering away from international luxury brands, this move has created so much awareness for some of the most talented designers and brands that have been challenged by the ongoing pandemic."
"My heart skips a beat when I read from our chat groups how thankful these brands are for orders albeit small coming their way because of the show. Suddenly, Filipino designs are getting the attention it so deserve[s]. Magagaling ang designer na Pinoy!"
