Liza Soberano continues to cement her presence in Hollywood’s entertainment landscape. Since her silver screen debut as Taffy in Lisa Frankenstein in 2024, the Fil-American actress has become a regular fixture at major industry events across the West Coast.
Over the weekend, she joined a constellation of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) luminaries at this year’s Gold House Gala. Held annually in Los Angeles, the high-profile affair—often referred to as the “Asian Pacific MET Gala”—honors the achievements of trailblazers in entertainment, business, sports, and culture.

Liza Soberano Wears an Ethereal Zhaoyi Yu Ensemble at the Gold Gala 2025
Liza delivered a show-stopping moment in a sculptural, dreamlike creation by London-based Chinese couturier Zhaoyi Yu. The look was curated by celebrity stylist Katie Qian, whose portfolio includes her work with the likes of Tyla, BLACKPINK’s Lisa, NIKI Zefanya, Katy Perry, and more.

The gown features a form-fitting bodice in a serene mint tone, offering a sleek and restrained contrast to the dramatic silhouette below. A halter neckline frames her décolletage, while a silver choker lends an added touch of shimmer to the ensemble.
The true focal point, however, is the sweeping, fan-pleated skirt that blossoms outwards from the hips in architectural curves. Crafted from a translucent, feather-light textile, the skirt pools elegantly to the ground in fluid, undulating waves that evoke imagery of sea anemones or wind-blown organza. The tonal play of light and shadow within the pleats creates visual texture, lending the look both lightness and complexity.

With her hair swept back in a soft updo by Rikke Gajda and makeup kept elegantly understated by Melissa Hernandez, the garment’s artistry stood front and center. The entire ensemble is a study in harmony—soft yet structured, and minimalist yet maximal in impact. It’s a sartorial embodiment of elegance in motion, fitting for an occasion such as the Gold Gala.
