Olivier Lapidus has replaced Bouchra Jarrar as artistic director at French luxury brand Lanvin.
Olivier was creative director of Balmain Homme from 1985-86 and is the son of the late Ted Lapidus (who designed clothing for The Beatles!), whose namesake Maison Lapidus he joined later on. Following the closure of Maison Lapidus in 2000, Olivier collaborated on capsule collections with a variety of labels and designers. Most recently, he founded his own maison, Creation Olivier Lapidus, an e-couture house.
Sources have told Business of Fashion that Lanvin is set to be revamped into a lifestyle-inclusive "French Michael Kors," but also that the label "is currently envisioning making haute couture again with Olivier." Sounds exciting!
Olivier is succeeding Bouchra Jarrar, who exited the house just last Thursday. Bouchra, in turn, succeeded Alber Elbaz, who was with Lanvin for 14 years up until October 2015.
