It’s been awhile since we’ve been treated to a royal wedding. Luckily, Lady Kitty Spencer just tied the knot in Rome wearing a fairytale-like gown worthy of a crown.
ICYDK, the 30-year-old aristocrat is the niece of the late Princess of Wales, and the daughter of Diana’s younger brother Charles Spencer, 9th Earl of Althorp. The British public and the press often compare her beauty to her late aunt, and we can see why.
Lady Kitty was mainly thrust into the spotlight during Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding back in 2011, where she wore a nude bodycon dress with a matching fascinator that caught the attention of onlookers. She also made an appearance at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s nuptials in 2018, this time wearing a green Dolce & Gabbana dress and Philip Treacy hat.
For her own wedding, the Lady Spencer opted for a custom Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda ensemble that’s reminiscent of both Grace Kelly and the Duchess of Cambridge’s frocks on their big day. Not a surprising designer choice, since she’s been one of the Italian house’s muses since 2017! According to Dolce & Gabbana, the dress is “[a] Victorian inspiration lace bridal gown” as an ode to her family’s proudly British lineage. “Lady Kitty Spencer is a girl who is very respectful of her origins, so she certainly started from her Englishness, her memories, her childhood and the traditions of her country,” Stefano Gabbana shares in an interview with Tatler.
For her reception, the designers created a frothy blue corseted tulle dress with beautiful floral embroideries that crept up from the hem to the bodice. The detail is simply exquisite! She then finished off the look with a showstopping diamond necklace and drop earrings.
Though she’s not a real-life princess, it’s safe to say that she looked every bit like one on her big day!
