This 2022, Kris Bernal is taking on one of her most daring roles yet. She will be a kontrabida for the very first time in the GMA teleserye Artikulo 247, and her transformation for the role will make anyone's jaw drop.
In the show, Kris will be playing Klaire Almazan, a manipulative, self-centered woman who escaped severe punishment for the murder of her husband because of Article 247 in the Revised Penal Code. Starring alongside her is fellow actress Rhian Ramos, who plays Jane Ortega, the mistress of Klaire's now-deceased husband and the show's protagonist.
To embody Klaire, Kris shed her "good girl" image entirely. Her beauty look was by far the biggest change, featuring a top knot with full, choppy bangs for hair, and dramatic smoky eyes and a taupe overlined lips for makeup.
That's not to say her wardrobe didn't surprise us, though. Because in place of the colorful dresses and playful prints we usually see on the actress' characters, Klaire has a sleek, black and white wardrobe composed of sultry one-pieces and corporate attire. She also seemed not to go without a chunky necklace or statement earrings.
On Instagram, Kris talked more about the process of her shift from protagonist to antagonist. She wrote, "Because this is my first time as a kontrabida, I'm extremely excited to share that I'm also capable of more than just being the protagonist who is always the kawawa at api-apihan.
"I was surprised by some feelings that I was able to handle. It's a different aspect of me—my dark side. And, I believe everyone has it in them. At the same time, if I'm categorized as kontrabida, I'd like people to appreciate it as well as I'd been the bida for years!"
FYI, Kris will also be playing your stereotypical good girl on the latter part of the show. After being banished for her murder case, Klaire will become known as Carmen Borromeo. Talk about double-duty!
