Kelsey Merritt is about to make history. This year, she'll be the first-ever Filipina to walk at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, sharing the runway with legendary angels like Adriana Lima and Behati Prinsloo, and sought-after models Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, and Bella Hadid. Now everyone, including international titles, is beginning to pay attention to the stunner—most recently the New York Post!
In her interview with the New York Post, Kelsey recalled her modelling journey. She mentioned growing up in Pampanga before being scouted as a model, then flying to New York in 2015 after she was discovered by a Wilhelmina executive, during which she was still finishing her advertising degree in the Philippines.
When she realized that she can make a full-time career out of modeling, Kelsey was determined to achieve this dream. She moved to the Big Apple and "caught the eye of Victoria’s Secret, where she was cast for two catalog shoots and asked to audition for the big fashion show," according to the New York Post.
The model shares that she believes she was able to book the job of her dreams with determination, discipline, and with help from a high power. "I went to church and prayed," she tells the New York Post. "I said, ‘This is all in Your hands now.’"
Kelsey adds, “Victoria’s Secret is such a big deal in the Philippines... So I feel like this was something I could give back to [Filipinos].”
