Last Saturday, Luis Manzano and Jessy Mendiola announced their engagement on Instagram with beautiful photos capturing the moment in idyllic Amanpulo. The bride-to-be captioned her photo with a simple “Yes,” her engagement ring on display in the dreamy shot.

Her ring has become a hot topic both for its beautiful design, as well as who made it. Philippine Entertainment Portal (Pep.ph) reported that the engagement ring cost a cool P5-million. The flawless D colored diamond in the center is roughly around 3- to 4-carats in size, according to the show biz news site’s source, which accounts for its steep price tag.
The actress tagged Manila Diamond Studio in her post, and she is actually the brand’s celebrity endorser. The fine jeweler also posted a congratulatory photo of Jessy featuring a portrait of her wearing the ring. The jewelry piece showcases a large, round-cut solitaire that’s flanked on either side by a trio of smaller diamonds.
However, in a post yesterday, December 13,2020, Radiant Jewelry took to social media saying that the engagement ring was actually the created by them. Their statement reads:
“It is unfortunate that a company would insinuate a work for something they did not do. We feel the need to inform the public that this is our work. We are the original creators of the engagement ring of Jessy Mendiola and Luis Manzano. In our opinion taking credit for something they did not do is detrimental to the industry that have ring makers who put their heart and soul to their pieces. Such a post or announcement is very misleading and unethical.”The statement was accompanied by a video showing Luis holding a black jewelry box with a diamond engagement ring inside it.
Luis, however, was quick to respond in the comments of Radiant Jewelry’s post clarifying that the final ring his fiancée is wearing was designed by her and Manila Diamond Studio. His comments are as follows:
“So, the the final design on Jessy’s finger was from her own design and @maniladiamondstudio, not the one made by Radiant. While Radiant did help us procure the main stone, we had a completely different setting, add ons, and design made thru @maniladiamondstudio, so yes, the design Jessy is wearing right now is from her own design and @maniladiamondstudio.” (sic.)
Neither Manila Diamond Studio nor Radiant Jewelry have released any statements since Luis wrote these comments.
