Admit it, every time there's a Filipino who is out there representing our country internationally we all get excited! I personally feel a strong urge of Pinoy pride rushing through my veins; do you feel the same?
When Filipina-Mexican singer Jessica Sanchez stepped on the American Idol stage, we couldn't help but become instant fans, supporting her every step of the way.
During the episode when they were about to announce the top two contenders of American Idol, the chanteusse was dressed up in a floor-grazing indigo gown created for her by another local talent making waves in the U.S., Oliver Tolentino. The designer opened shop in Melrose Ave. in Los Angeles in 2009 and has since been dressing a number of Hollywood's stars.
Dressing Jessica for her crucial performance of Mariah Carey's "My All" was particularly special for Oliver. In his words, "I always consider it an honor to dress Filipinos whenever they are representing us on the international stage. I consider it my patriotic duty."
We cheer you on, Jessica and we hope you become the next American Idol!
