Jennlyn Mercado and Dennis Trillo's November 15 wedding definitely had its share of unforgettable highlights. First off, the celebrity couple opted for a super tight-knit civil ceremony, and only released their official wedding photos five days after the event. Next, the couple went twinning in chic and modern cream suits, which totally matched the cozy garden setup. And, proving that she isn't one to buy into convention, Jennylyn opted for a chic Cinderella-inspired bridal shoe, a.k.a the Rosie mules by the designer brand Amina Muaddi. They certainly had that practical, modern wedding theme down to a T!
Today, let's zoom in on another central aspect of any nuptial: The wedding bands. Jen and Den (as fans lovingly call them), passed on the usual gold rings and instead went for clean, solid platinum bands. Their rings were created by SV Platinum Fine Jewelry, the platinum-focused brand of the local jewelry empire Sep Vergara Fine Jewelry.
"From the start, the couple was particular on what they wanted," the brand told Preview. "They specifically requested for platinum rings after learning its benefits." As it turns out, platinum is 50% more dense than gold, and does not thin, tarnish, nor deteriorate over time, which makes it an ideal metal for wedding rings.
According to the brand, Jennylyn and Dennis were very involved in the design process. Before the actual fitting, they were sent a 3D drawing so that they could visualize the final design better.
"Jennylyn loves emerald cut diamonds and asked us to customize an eternity ring to complement her emerald cut diamond engagement ring. We used 19 pieces of .20ct emerald cut diamonds with VVSI Clarity and D/E color diamonds (3.88 carat total weight). As for Dennis’ wedding ring, he [preferred] a classic plain platinum polished ring," they said.
So, in case you want to cop a pair of platinum rings for your own wedding, we took the liberty of asking the starting price. For a pair of plain platinum rings, you'll have to shell out P50,000. The price will increase depending of the weight of the rings, and the diamonds used, if ever. The prices at SV Platinum Fine Jewelry vary depending on the diamond carat, quality, and weight in grams.
Given that wedding rings should be built to stand the test of time, we say they're worth the investment.
