Janine Gutierrez Was an Ethereal Sight at the 2026 Cinemalaya Awards Night

On Monday, August 17, the annual Cinemalaya independent film festival closed its 22nd edition. At the awards night held at Shangri-La Plaza Mall in Mandaluyong, Janine Gutierrez joined her fellow “Mag-iina” cast members as they celebrated the evening’s wins.

Styled by Lyn Alumno, the 2024 Preview Best Dressed honoree graced the event in a custom creation by designer Ting Joco.

In an Instagram post, the designer shared that the ensemble was “shaped by grief, memory, and unraveling.” His mood board reveals references to stormy skies, mottled gray surfaces, a gray pigeon, and raw charcoal-toned woven swatches.

Ting’s vision translated those references into an ethereal, tattered lace dress.

The dress is built on a highly structured corset bodice, featuring defined underwire cups and exposed vertical boning that creates a sharp, tailored contrast to its organic textures.

Over this structured base, layers of slate blue lace are meticulously deconstructed and shredded over controlled flashes purple, giving the fabric its raw and distressed finish.

A harmony of textures and fabric, the garment’s intricate lace flows into a dramatic, asymmetric skirt made of raw-edged panels that pool unevenly toward the floor.

To balance the gown's heavy, organic accents, a daring thigh-high slit is cut into the left side, and the entire piece is suspended by thin straps to keep the neckline clean and focused.
