Islamic Fashion Festival IFF debuts in Manila with designers from Manila and all over Asia.

Fashion shows are seldom what you would call modest affairs, nor do they often have "modesty" as a theme. But for the Islamic Fashion Festival held last February, none other than the demure virtue was celebrated by eight designers from all over Asia. Their individual collections revelled in this year's battlecall, "Discover the Beauty of Modesty." Three of our own participated in the event: JC Buendia, Veejay Floresca, and Jun Escario.

Models sauntered down the runway in the eight designers' take on Islamic fashion. Sheathed in a variety of silhouettes and garments—pantsuits, caftans, and body-hugging gowns—in all sorts of delicious colors and fabrics and lovely embellishments, they were proof-positive that baring skin isn't necessary in attaining high style.
