Before you knock back tie-dye as just the art project you did when you were a kid, allow me to discuss its current merits that make it ripe for the picking in the year 2020. You’ll find that between the runways, social media, and the retail scene, the colorful (or not) fabric treatment is quite pervasive.

First, picking up from where the Spring 2019 trends left off, the summer of 2020 saw Dior, Tibi, and Prabal Gurung incorporate the technique on their garments. While the big name designers took a graphic approach with darker or richer hues, retail has gone soft both color- and fabric-wise. The latter’s offerings suit the cozy and somewhat bohemian aesthetic we’re living in and decorating with right now.

Local celebrities and influencers are testament to the perks of the latest incarnations of this trend. Case in point the women we’ve spotted sporting it below:
