There are different ways to show love for your country, and we at Preview strongly believe that buying local is one way to do so. Supporting local brands isn’t just a sign of patriotism—it has direct economic effects. It boosts our economic growth, helps workers and communities sustain their livelihoods, and it hones local talent that results in continuous productivity.

That said, what better way to shine light on homegrown brands than on Independence Day? To celebrate, we recently asked six influencers what their favorite local brands were, and it’s a cool mix of everything from clothes, bags, to cosmetics. Check them out below!

Your girl Mimiyuuuh is a self-confessed lover of local designers and clothing brands, but she mentioned four in particular. There’s the eccentric, and wonderfully maximalist local brand,HA.MU which recently rolled out a line of avant garde face masks. Mimiyuuuh also loves designers Mark Bumgarner (she has a box bag from his collection!) and Kelvin Morales (she’s obsessed with his button-downs!). Oh, and she’s a big fan of Carl Jan Cruz, too, especially his basahan bag.

GMA star Gabbi Garcia, known for her stylish, laidback ensembles, is a fan of artisanal brand Calli Bags. The brand offers handcrafted bags made from acacia wood. Gabbi particularly loves their white minaudiere carved to look like a blooming flowerit even transforms into a crossbody bag because it comes with a gold chain strap! 

3. Shaira Luna

It’s no secret that photographer Shaira Luna is a lover of all things vintage (as well as an ukay-ukay fan!), so it comes as no surprise that she’s obsessed with local brand Hinhin. Created “for the quiet girl whose inner universe is hardly ever silent,” Hinhin’s dainty designs are inspired by the thrill of one-off pieces found at vintage stores. Their unique fabrics are sourced abroad but they’re all ethically made here!

Time and again, radio jock and host Jaz Reyes proves the breadth of her fashion taste, as she is both a fan of designer goods and thrift shopping! (Oh, and have you seen her aesthetic home photoshoots?) Naturally, it turns out that she is also a staunch supporter of local brands! She closely works with designer Rosbert Villar, who recently released a line of chic, everyday protective gear. As for beauty, she loves Luxx Lash for their easy-to-use magnetic lash strips.  

5. Arabella Racelis

YouTuber Arabella Racelis, a.k.a. ThatsBella, shared that she is fond of homegrown beauty brand Happy Skin, known for its playful makeup products that boast of complexion-caring properties. She loves how their products flatter a range of skin tones, including morenas like her! She is currently enjoying the Color Play Multi Use Mousse, which she claims is “very pigmented and totally worth the hype.”

6. Sam Pinto

Sunkissed Filipina beauty Sam Pinto is an eternal summer girl, and her outfit choices reflect that. When she created her own clothing lines, they naturally reflected that aesthetic, and it comes as no surprise that they're her fave brands, too. (Love your own, of course!)
