The internet seems to be divided when it comes to the fashion in Emily in Paris. One side of the spectrum adores Patricia Field’s outlandish vision that’s a heavy-handed homage to her costume design work for Sex and the City and The Devil Wears Prada, while the opposite faction deems it quite tacky, with Dazed and Confused describing the fashion as “avant-basic”, while Vogue wrote, “the way Emily’s ensembles are put together cheese-grates my eyes.”
But whether you love or hate the styling featured in the series, it has definitely got people talking about fashion in a passionate way—and we’re all for that! People suddenly want to dress up and think outside of the box—or in this case, think outside their typical OOTD uniform.
Iya Omaña and Patricia “Gaps” Gapay of the Preview Clique felt exactly that: the urge to explore their closet, layer a jacket or two, wear more than two colors, and mix and match textures and prints to see some interesting results. It’s safe to say that all the outfits they’ve come up with are fun, chic, and full of life. Emily could never!

Iya’s take on Emily’s memorable pink coat:
Iya opts for a tamer choice in a maxi dress and bubblegum pink jacket, plus a scarf that matches. “I made sure to add a neck scarf because I laughed so hard at the scene when Camille was fixing Emily’s scarf in episode five,” she shares.
Since Gaps loves pastels, here’s her take on layering over a turtleneck.
“This outfit is inspired by the first look she wore in episode eight—it was a cropped blazer layered on top of a turtle neck, paired with an A-line skirt and knee-high boots!” says Gaps.
Both girls had a different take Emily’s famous “Ringarde” outfit.
Gaps adores Emily’s look when she went shopping in Paris.
“Mine is a more casual version with the blue cardigan and cream Oxfords,” she shares.
Taking cues from Emily, Iya tried to style a black corset her way.
“This look was from the first party Emily attended in episode two,” Iya shares. “I made sure to copy the black corset Emily wore then I added my personal touch with a polka dotted skirt.”
