If The Shoe Fits

If The Shoe Fits A hidden boutique for the shoe addicts.

Just how far do we go with our obsession for shoes? Some get obsessive compulsive with cleaning them, some stare at their pairs for ten minutes before sleeping (never actually using them, even), some buy at least a pair a week. There's one we know who built a boutique as an excuse to buy more shoes. Yes, the fashion-possessed sometimes go to extreme measures to feed a shoe fetish.

What Shoe Wearing (WSW) is what owner and shoe fanatic, Lani Velasco, calls an extension of her shoe closet. “My shoe closet was never big enough and yes, I just really wanted an excuse to buy more shoes and share my passion for shoes,” she reveals.

Tucked away in Pasong Tamo Extension, WSW is a little piece of heaven for the ladies—Christian Louboutin, Yves Saint Laurent, Jimmy Choo, Tory Burch, Giuseppe Zanotti and Manolo Blahnik are just a few of the fancy friends you'll make when you set foot in the store. Lani carries designs that range from classic to trendy that can't be found in the malls.

“All the shoes in the store are brand new and the latest you can find,” she assures, “You can also be guaranteed that they are all original.” Studded Louboutin booties, Tory Burch Revas, with shelves and shelves of designer shoes in the latest styles, you'll have trouble resisting. Lani makes a trip to the US once a month to replenish her stock, making sure her select clientele will always have reason to frequent the store.

While it does require some effort (Read: slowing traffic along the busy road to keep your eye out for the WSW sign) it's worth the trip. “I prefer this kind of set-up because I cater to the kind of clients who really go out of their way to look for that particular pair of shoes they have been lusting over,” Lani shares. “You know how we always want to be the only one wearing a particular pair of shoes? It's amazing to see how many of us are just like Imelda Marcos,” she adds.

Oftentimes, regular clients make requests for specific items. Otherwise, she usually gets just a few sizes per style to re-sell here. Bestsellers like Tory Burch, however, have more sizes and a complete collection to choose from. It's pretty much a Cinderella story—if the pair fits you, you'll have your happily ever after.

WSW gives patrons that added feel-good experience. Well organized shelves, a comfy couch, the pleasant smell (Note: No hint of rubber.) all make for a cozy atmosphere. Apart from a special room for entertaining clients, the shop also has a playroom for kids who wait while their moms try dozens of pairs. They have very accommodating staff that will pleasantly surprise you; they know the specific names of each style in the shop.

As Manolo Blahnik said, “Women love transforming themselves and shoes are the quickest and easiest way for them to achieve instant metamorphosis.” There's no time like the present to have a look at those divine shoes.

What Shoe Wearing is located at 2295 Jannov Plaza building 3, Pasong Tamo Extension (Across the Saatchi House, near Toyota Pasong Tamo). Telephone no.: 812-1787. They are open Monday to Saturday, from 10am to 6pm. Sundays are by appointment only.
