It was the last leg of press interviews during Pia Wurtzbach’s first major press conference in Manila since winning Miss Universe, and Style Bible was given the final slot in the closed door interview granted to the digital press. Out of all the questions she was asked, it was our very own fashion inquiry that had her on her feet—quite literally.

When asked what steps she has taken to incorporate Filipino designers into her wardrobe as Miss Universe, Esther Swan, Pia’s manager, said from behind the cameras, “Will you stand up?”
Gladly, Pia stood up to show the details of her dress and teased the press with a coy “hello,” which had members of the press laughing.
Our Miss Universe stands up for Style Bible to show off her #OOTD.
“This is Albert Andrada,” she says, referring to the nude cover up and black midi dress underneath that she wore to the afternoon event. She was donning the same designer who made her national costume and the famous royal blue evening gown at the Miss Universe pageant in Las Vegas last December. The fact that Pia is the first Miss Philippines in a long time to wear a competition gown designed by a local designer then bring home the title wearing the aforementioned frock is seen by pageant and fashion fans as sweet serendipity.
“Earlier today, during my interviews this morning, I was wearing (a blue jumpsuit by) Bessie Besana, who also did the gown I wore at the Star Magic Ball,” she continues. Besana is also a member of Aces and Queens, the group that coached Pia in the last three years that she joined Binibining Pilipinas.
“I am taking steps. I actually had Francis Libiran over a few hours ago to see what pieces I could bring with me to New York. Cheetah Rivera also made beautiful clothes that I can’t wait to wear to my future events.”
Pia concludes, “I’ve always told Miss Universe that if I can, I want to wear Filipino designers as much as possible, and then I showed them the pieces. They were very impressed and I got their thumbs up. Finally, we’ll be able to do it!”
Now that's our version of Pinoy pride.
