In Spring, Prada gave us legwarmers and Mary Janes while Chanel gave us the patent leather and cotton sock high boot. Now that the seasons have turned, it’s time we up-ed our shoe game to keep up with the layering that happens up top.

Now you can’t really layer shoes, can you? That’s just ridiculous. So to get your feet in the spirit of piling it on, we suggest you try pairing up your heels with equally quirky socks to match. Here are a couple of formulas to try out.

Tube socks have been quite popular with people pairing them with those Adidas sandals. Turn up the glam factor by wearing them with embellished block heeled Mary Janes in rich velvet.


White socks can either be great or a total flop. Pick out a thin, delicate pair that hits right at your ankles and wear them with chunky satin platforms for an updated approach to the school girl look.

Socks are meant to be fun. Dress up a perfectly quirky pair of heels with socks thats are just as peculiar and bring the print on print trend closer to the ground—literally.


Channel your inner man-repeller with something that's actually taken from the boys. And no, we're not talking about those statement heels. Pick a long pair and scrunch it down to the ankels to give your look a relaxed feel.

Leave the overly frilly laced ankle socks to the school girls and opt for something delicate and sheer to wear with a girly but grown-up pair of heels.The rule of thumb for the gents is that their socks should always match their trousers.
