Shopping online has its pros and cons. Imagine seeing the cutest one piece online and having it delivered to your doorstep the very next day. Convenient, no? Now, imagine finally trying on your coveted piece, only to realize that you are definitely not a small and should have ordered a size up.
Sound familiar? As chronic shoppers, we share your woes. But don't fret, dear readers, Style Bible is here to save the day.
1. MEASURE YOURSELF
Cannot stress this enough. Reach for that tape measure (maybe even get a buddy to help) and measure your bust (at the fullest part), waist (the narrowest part, like a high waist belt), and hips (make sure to go around the largest part of your rear). Write these measurements down. Most online stores offer a size chart so you can compare your own measurements when selecting a size.
2. SIZE UP
If you're getting something that can be easily altered by a seamstress, order a size up and have it taken in. It might cost extra, but on the flipside, you'll have something that fits your frame perfectly.
Know a friend who ordered from the same shop? Ask about their sizing and listen to her review, if you two are close enough maybe even try on the clothing to assess your size.
If not, there's always customer service. E-mail the online retailer or make use of their live-chat service. Most sellers communicate through Viber, too, so ask away!
4. PICK WHERE YOU SHOP
For some online sellers, all sales are final. But for a select few, returns and exchanges can be made.
Accepts returns within 30 days after receiving your product. Aside from sizing issues, you can also return an item and exchange it for store credit if you find that the item doesn't suit you.
Even better, if you chose to pay cash on delivery and happen to be there when the courier arrives, you can fit the item and give it back before the courier makes his next trip.
They accept returns 5 days after you receive their items and can be exchanged for store credit. All you have to do is pay to ship the item back to them and back to you.
Return of unused purchases can be made within 14 days, and can be turned into store credit. Shipping will be shouldered by the customer.
Accepts returns within 10 days of receiving the item. A full refund (except for shipping costs) can also be granted to the customer and takes 3-5 days to process.
A word of caution on returnable items: Don't even attempt to return swimwear or underwear. Think ten times before you add to cart!
5. CHOOSE WISELY
When in doubt, stick to tried and tested cuts that flatter your shape. Try to stay away from tailored items as they need to fit close to your body. Take a look at your closet and try to find similar styles of clothing. If the particular item fits you well, its online counterpart might, too.
