We adore this time of the year for a number of reasons: outdoor activities, barbecue fetes, fun soirees, and the overall relatively relaxed atmosphere. That said, we like to indulge in daydreaming about our own blue-sky holiday wearing House of Laurel’s Spring/Summer 2013 collection, Mali.
The seventies silhouettes are the starting point for this collection, reminiscent of the icons of that era—David Bowie, Diane von Furstenberg, and Bianca Jagger—mixed with African prints and a cool Scandinavian vibe. Oversized pants (lots of room!), billowy skirts, and relaxed shift dresses all set the right tone for creating a ladylike yet fun look. Graphic black and white and color-blocked ensembles cover the color spectrum from one end to the other. Sharply tailored suits and bottoms hint at a great summer safari.
The collection is a brilliant mash-up of high-contrast hues, striking prints, and breezy silhouettes, giving us countless ways to liven up our warm-weather wardrobe. And with its stellar mix of styles, it is a nod to everything we love about summer.
