Swedish retail giant, H&M has just announced that it is set to release a collection with the master of haute couture, Giambattista Valli. The brand revealed the collaboration at the amfAR gala in Cannes with personalities like Kendall Jenner, Chiara Ferragni, singer/actor Ross Lynch, and singer/songwriter Gabriella Wilson donning pieces from the collaboration's pre-collection. That's right—a limited edition pre-drop collection, which includes nine looks and some accessories, will be available in select stores and online on May 25, 2019.
H&M's Creative Advisor Ann-Sofie Johansson says, “We are thrilled to collaborate with Giambattista Valli. He is the undisputed master of haute couture with a knack for the memorable silhouette. To be able to bring his signature styles to our customers is a dream come true. We can’t wait to see their reactions to this beautiful collection.”
The fast-fashion label has been collaborating with big-name designers since 2004, the late Karl Lagerfeld being the first. Fashion houses like Marni, Maison Martin Margiela, Kenzo, Erdem, Balmain, Lanvin, to name a few, have all reimagined their couture garments made through thousands of hours of intricate handiwork into more affordable, more wearable pieces that shoppers wildly queue for.
“I am excited about this collaboration; H&M gives me the opportunity to bring my vision of style and my celebration of beauty to a wider audience. The goal is to share my love for beauty and to be able to be a part of everyone’s 'happy moments,' to help create love stories all around the world," says Giambattista. The collaboration with H&M is the first of its kind for the Paris-based designer and also marks his first foray into menswear.
The Giambattista Valli X H&M main collection will hit the shops on November 7, 2019.
