A domino effect, the street's most stylish girls have eaten it up too, pairing the once-proper Wales check with the utmost irreverence, your majesty—think oversized blazers tossed over tight ringer tees and unapologetically slashed denims. Shocked? Scandalized? Good.
It's a huge thing, this paring down of all things English and upper crust. Look at the rugby shirt, for example! Still, the resurgence of heritage plaid comes with its own touch of propriety: over at Stella McCartney, Chanel, and Jason Wu, houndstooth came galloping forward like a graceful, competitive, trained-since-childhood equestrienne via crisp jackets and matching trousers.
