What Is Earned Media Value (EMV)?
Contrary to popular belief, EMV does not reflect a celebrity’s actual earnings following their appearances at fashion week. Instead, it measures the estimated value of brand exposure based on content created by influencers, media, or users. It gauges organic visibility, reach, and engagement.

Lefty.io calculates this metric by estimating impressions and applying a standard cost per mille (CPM), typically $100. So, for instance, an Instagram post that garners 10,000 impressions would yield an EMV of $1,000, using the formula: (10,000 * $100) / 1,000.

Essentially, EMV serves as a valuable benchmark for brands in tracking influencer performance, measuring campaign outcomes, and understanding how much brands gain from creator-led visibility.
