New year, new ultra-stylish moments from Heart Evangelista. 2023 is kicking off on a fashionable note for the multi-hyphenate, who's currently attending shows at Paris Haute Couture Week. At this point, Heart is a veteran at these high-brow events, so she knows that dressing to the nines is imperative at every waking moment.
Recently, she glided through the streets of the French city in a gorgeous golden number that wonderfully starred our country's signature butterfly sleeves. Filipino design deserves an interntional audience, after all!

The frock was plucked straight out of Cheetah Rivera's S/S 2022 line and is called the "Balintawak" terno dress. This isn't the first time the actress has donned a heritage-inspired piece from the designer, having done so in July 2022 with a blue mini (that was inspired by Sen. Miriam Defensor Santiago, FYI!). Cheetah tells Preview that Heart "fell in love" with the design upon seeing it, and she requested to have one made for her Parisian sojourn.
Crafted out of jacquard leaves outlined with gold threads, the sheer frock was a labor of love that took close to a month to complete. The main inspiration for it were drawings of fairies by renowned English illustrator Cicely Mary Barker, which were a big part of the designer's childhood. "Specifically, the Balintawak dress was inspired [by] the Toadflux Fairy," details Cheetah.
To play around with the dress' warm tones, Heart wore it with a pair of Barbie pink stilts. Her tote of the day was a mini Hermes Kelly rendered in a glossy black croc-skin leather. Magnifique!
Cheetah gushes about having another one of her ensembles present at such a huge platform. She states, "Napakaganda ng ating national [dress] and to have it seen on a world stage is something we can be proud of. I encourage Filipinas to wear them often, because the essence of [a] terno is about our cultural pride."
This look was to die for, Cheetah! Heart was a sight to behold!
