Fun fashion fact: Fishnet stockings originally rose to fame among showgirls and flappers back in the 1920s. The hosiery made a popular comeback in the '70s as a punk favorite, and then later on in the '90s as one of the closet staples of the grunge era. The last time it was especially relevant in the global fashion scene was three years ago when it became one of the defining trends of 2017—during which, the cool girls of Instagram wore it like a badge of honor as part of their double tap-worthy looks.
Fast forward to the present year, just as we're about to bid 2020 adieu, it looks like Heart Evangelista is once again trying to make fishnets happen—and nope, we're definitely not complaining!
A trendsetter in her own right, Heart has noticeably been wearing a lot of fishnets in her recent #OOTDs and #shoefies, be it in the form of designer socks or stockings. We just couldn't help but notice the edgy twist she's been giving her 'fits lately—at least three times in the last two weeks, if our math is correct.
Check out her designer looks featuring fishnets below:
1. The blazer-and-skirt combo is a classic fashion formula for the working girl, but Heart took the look from the office to the streets by punctuating it with fishnet hosiery and a pair of combat boots. Of course, bonus points for her Lady Dior arm candy, too!
2. Heart may not have posted the entire outfit she wore this shoefie with, but we're totally drawn to her Gucci logo print fishnet socks! (They cost $120 or approximately P5800 on Farfetch, btw! You're welcome.)
3. The most recent one has got to be our fave, in which Heart sported a white Christian Dior logo crop top worn under a sequined jacket and paired with a black leather skirt. She finished off her lewk with fishnet socks and leather pumps.
BRB, gotta shop for fishnets, too!
