Each piece is handmade and one of a kind!

After a year of living in lockdown and loungewear, most people's sense of sartorial ensembles have been suppressed for too long. The pandemic has affected many to reconsider their shopping habits and choose to purchase more sustainable and pre-loved clothing over fast fashion brands. Enter Glorious Dias, a hidden retail gem in Makati selling vintage and reworked clothing pieces. The best part? Their collections all have a uniquely Filipino twist.

What Is Glorious Dias?

The name Glorious Dias is a nod to the first Filipina to be crowned Miss Universe back in 1969—Gloria Diaz. Originally, the brand was torn between the name Pakipot or Victorious Secret, but Glorious Dias eventually stuck. Owned by Jodinand Aguillon, Glorious Dias is an ever evolving celebration of Filipino glory days, constantly on the lookout for vintage clothing fit for a queen.

Glorious Dias' Barong Corsets

One piece from that recently caught our attention from the brand is a corset reworked from a vintage barong tagalog. The barong tagalog has been a style staple for Filipinos for generations, and thanks to Glorious Dias, you can now incorporate it into your daily looks. If you love vintage fashion, this is definitely worth checking out.

Featuring a panelled style waist cincher, these corsets are part of a series of one-of-a-kind pieces created in collaboration with Sefra Babewear. The double layered satin corset is fitted with an adjustable 10-hole lace-up back, threaded with a white satin ribbon that can be cut and tied to your liking. Each corset also features unique embroidery from vintage barongs on the front, as well as flexible internal boning for a smooth and structured look.

As these corsets have been made by hand using a mix of new and vintage textiles, each piece has its own minor imperfections. This can easily be overlooked though, knowing these pieces are one of a kind and made of reworked fabric. With the upsurgence of Filipino motifs in fashion today, these barong corsets will definitely be a style staple in your wardrobe.

These corsets may be dressed down with jeans and a tank top, or can be paired with something more eye-catching like a white puffed sleeve organza blouse. Regardless of how you want to style this piece, it would certainly add Filipiniana flavor to any outfit!
