In December 2023, Givenchy’s former creative director, Matthew M. Williams, left the French couture house after a three-year tenure, leaving the brand to rely on collections designed by its studio team. With the search for Williams' successor still ongoing, the arrival of Givenchy’s new CEO Alessandro Valenti brings hope for a fresh start and renewed energy.

Givenchy has appointed Alessandro Valenti, a former Louis Vuitton executive, as its new CEO. Valenti, who has extensive experience as president of Europe, the Middle East, and Africa at Louis Vuitton, begins his role immediately, according to parent company LVMH. He replaces Renaud de Lesquen, who led Givenchy since April 2020 and relaunched some of the brand's most iconic products such as the Antigona bag and viral Shark Lock boots.
Valenti's impressive background includes roles at Polo Ralph Lauren, Giorgio Armani, and Gianni Versace before joining Louis Vuitton in 2014. Sidney Toledano, chairman of the Givenchy board, praised Valenti's expertise in an announcement, according to WWD. “His extensive knowledge of the luxury industry, including more than 10 years at Louis Vuitton, coupled with his retail expertise and managerial skills, will be key assets in taking Givenchy to reach new milestones.”
Valenti's appointment comes at a challenging time, as LVMH recently reported only a three-percent increase in first-quarter sales, indicating a slowdown in the luxury market post-COVID.
