Pantone may have announced Very Peri as the official color of 2022, but there’s a whole other hue that's already stolen its thunder: Gen Z Green. We’re not talking about soft tones of sage or muted pastels—this green is bright, punchy, and full of flavor. Think of Bottega Veneta’s signature packaging.

Perhaps the emergence of this eye-catching color is a symbol of the shifting preference towards the daring, adventurous, and effortless. There’s a steady cultural movement that favors appearing more “real” or having a sort of IDGAF attitude your younger self would be proud of. Take the current sentiment towards Instagram photos for example: We’ve seemed to say goodbye to ultra-curated, flatlay-galore IG feeds in preference of a more personable, humorous (ie. meme-filled), and uncurated online presence.

Gen Z Green has permeated every aspect of lifestyle brands—you see it in beauty (like in Pharell’s hip skincare line or R+Co’s campaign for their Repair and Moisture products), interior design, and of course, fashion. As much as the color seems like a walk on the wild side, it’s surprisingly easy to wear. Not to mention it makes for a great accent piece to contrast neutral outfits or full head-to-toe looks.
Here are some of our favorite Gen Z Green picks:
JW Pei Gabbi Bag
The JW Pei Gabbi Bag in Grass Green sees a contrast between the softness of the silhouette and boldness of the color. It features a gently ruched body and handle that looks interesting when coupled with striking Gen Z Green. This bag is definitely going on our Christmas wish list.

Zara Slingbacks
Another way to add a pop of green to your outfit is with a fun shoe. This Zara heel is done in a classic slingback style that goes with anything. We can totally imagine letting this pop against an all-black outfit or a white tee and blue jean combo.

If we’re going Gen Z, then you can bet we're going all the way! The new generation is keen on a more out-there type of dressing, as seen particularly with bold prints. This Pull and Bear halter dress is a perfect example. You can wear this as is or with a neutral colored jacket to tone it down a bit.
