Freeway's National Artist Collectors' Series for this season pays tribute to the life of one of greatest Filipino muralists—Carlos "Botong" V. Francisco. He hails from Angono, Rizal, and is the second painter to be given the National Artist Award after Fernando C. Amorsolo.
When asked what makes Botong different from other Filipino painters, they mention his loyalty to his country—he never left, even if there were so many opportunities to do so. He stayed in Angono and drew inspiration from the culture of his city and country. His famous works include the Blood Compact, The Invasion of Limahog, Portrait of Purita, Bayanihan, and so much more.
To celebrate his 100th anniversary, Freeway transformed his works into wearable art, marrying fashion and culture in the process. Not only do we get to know more about our National Artist, we also get to appreciate more of their works in various mediums.
The collection consists of dresses in classic silhouttes with prints of Botong's works, as well as gift items like accessories, watches, and even tech accessories like mouse pads available in stores.
