After paying tribute and immortalizing the works of National artists like Nick Joaquin (Literature), Ang Kiukok (Visual arts), Jose Garcia Villa (Literature), Ramon Valera (Fashion Design) and Francisco Sionil Jose (Literature), Freeway Art released their new National Artist Collectors' Series featuring the works of Vicente Manansala.
Manansala is a well-known Filipino cubist painter and illustrator. His works usually depict the life of a typical Filipino: images ranging from children playing sungka, fishermen, fighting cocks or women selling in the market.
Freeway's tribute collection has gone beyond clothing to also includes costume jewelry, bags, and even collectible mousepads. His colorful cubic paintings are printed on loose cropped tops, raglan sleeved tees, button down polos, and jersey dresses. The artist's signature, an integral detail in a Freeway Art piece, seems to jump out of the pieces. As for fashion accessories, chunky bangles and mother of pearl necklaces have panels and charms that bear miniatures of his paintings. Freeway reminds us of how beautiful Filipino artistry is giving women the chance to wear the art every day.
