Set on having your dream Francis Libiran wedding dress? Here’s what you need to know about the designer and his memorable, fairytale-worthy bridal gowns.

Francis’ wedding gowns are highly, highly personalized.

When it comes to his designs, the designer describes his signature elements as intricate, timeless, and personal. He really gets to know his clients up close and personal, resulting in uniquely individual pieces that stand the test of time and trends. "I would say getting to know the bride is the most important part [of designing a wedding dress,]" Francis shares. "Once I get to know them well, it won’t be so hard to design and create a wedding gown that will perfectly fit them." Francis also shares that his designs are influenced by his clients' stories, too. "I also draw inspiration from my brides: their personalities, beauty, and love stories."

Despite his celebrity clientele and a long list of other clients in the past, the designer loves all the gowns he's ever made for his brides, and he remembers every single creation. Francis tells Preview, "It’s really hard for me to pick a favorite wedding gown because each piece that I designed hold a very special place in my heart. I don’t know how but I got them all memorized, maybe because each were uniquely created in collaboration with my brides."

His designs are inspired by life, architecture and the arts.

Francis, who is also an architect (he studied Architecture at the University of Santo Tomas), says that he takes inspiration from his travels and experiences, notably the structures and other sights he's seen. "I take my inspiration from life itself. The people and things that surround me, experiences, history, places I visit, magnificent structures, arts, and culture [all] influence my life which translates into my designs." It's no wonder, then, that his creations reflect this: well-structured dresses that drape beautifully on the body, laced with timeless and romantic details.

The entire creation process takes place six months to a year.

As he's known for his beautifully detailed dresses and embroidery, having a dress made by Francis requires a huge lead time, between six months to a year, depending on how elaborate the design is. "Preparation is key. That said, a very generous lead time is required to create the perfect wedding gown, most especially if it’s going to be fully-embroidered," the designer advises. "Six to eight months prior should be safe, though I have a lot of brides who meet with me a year or more before their wedding date."

Unlike other designers who only allow two to three fittings for the client, Francis shares that his clients normally have around five fittings, which explains the lengthy process and ensures that the wedding gown is absolutely flawless. "The entire process is all about perfecting the wedding gown. We will only consider it done once my bride is already satisfied and happy with the outcome."

Aside from custom-made wedding gowns, Francis Libiran also has ready-to-wear wedding pieces.

A personalized, custom-made Francis Libiran wedding gown starts at P300,000. However, couture is not the only way to go in order to have a Francis Libiran wedding gown. Whether you’re pressed for time and you don’t have six months to spare, getting married abroad, or even just being vigilant about your budget, you can avail of a Francis Libiran gown from his ready-to-wear bridal line at the Francis Libiran Bridal Boutique in Greenbelt 5, with different price points according to your choosing. "Our RTW pieces available at Francis Libiran Bridal has four price points: P88,000, P128,000, P168,000, and P188,000." Made with high-quality materials and crafted by skilled artisans, Francis’ ready-to-wear collections are also just as beautiful as his couture pieces!

According to Francis, it’s important to know yourself throughout the whole design process.

Above all else, the designer shares that the most important detail to pay attention to throughout the creation process is yourself. Although it’s good to have pegs, aim to know what you really want and how you can make the dress your own, not just because you saw it on social media or a magazine page. Francis reminds, "Just because it looks good on someone else, doesn’t mean it will look good on you. You should always remember that you are your own kind of beautiful." He adds that it’s important to know yourself and what works best with and on you. "You have to know what you want and what works well with your body type."
