Another Filipino designer is going global! Gabbie Sarenas will be showing her lastest collection called Pagtànom at the upcoming Vancouver Fashion Week. Known for her affair with rural-inspired pieces that remind us of our rich heritage, Gabbie is putting the spotlight on our Filipino culture. And with her debuting her new collection overseas, surely everyone (Filipinos and foreigners alike) will be captivated by her clothes inspired by our traditions.

In an interview with Preview, Gabbie shares, "The collection is based from our previous collection, Pintuho. This season we try to interpret one ritual on transplanting in East Visayas by hand crafting prayers on local and modern fabrics that we picked this season—Philippine cotton woven by Bontoc weavers, pina shifu from Aklan, and cotton. We went luxe this season with our choices in fabric but at the same time, keeping that comfort pambahay aesthetic. Embroidered on the pieces are also geckos that is the symbolism of fertility. While prayerfully waiting for good harvest, farmers would also ask for fertility."

She even gave us an exclusive peek of her collection, which will be debuted on the VFW runway on March 23. Scroll down to see more!
