Today is a sad day for Philippine fashion as we grieve the passing of designer and mentor, Danilo Franco. While we are waiting for details of his demise, his colleague Amina Aranaz-Alunan pays tribute in an interview with Preview:
"Sir Dan was one of SoFA's pillars. He was one of our first few faculty members and he eventually became a major member of our education team. He was one of those that we relied on to deliver the SoFA Method of Design education. He understood the value of the design process and managed to mentor our students through it.

"He was a well-loved mentor. Extremely generous—that he would become the life-long mentor to his students, even beyond the classroom.

"As a colleague, Sir Dan was quiet but determined. I would often witness him go through the grueling graduation thesis class as he was always our graduation mentor. In fact, we are in the midst of preparing our graduation this coming March together with Sir Dan."
Danilo was also known in the industry as a remarkable fashion illustrator.
