Cebuano designer Jun Escario is known for his provocative, alluring designs that show off the best of what women have to offer, all done in the most tasteful of ways, of course. However, for his Holiday 2011 collection for this year's Fashion Watch, his designs take on a more mature, more elegant turn that course with decadent taste and opulent style—but that's not to say the ensembles don't pulsate with Jun's specific brand of sexiness.
In his Fashion Watch Preludes video interview, he tells us that his collection is "about luxury, fabrication, and texture." From the cream-colored opening salvo of his luxe lineup to the regal finale piece, the intention is crystal clear: Jun is out to showcase exquisite, refined taste.
There are rich delicacies in all of his pieces: lace fashioned in a contemporized Elizabethan collar, hip-skimming skirts of bronzed brocade, fine woolen skirtsuits accented with grosgrain belts, ostrich feathers on flirty little tops. There are dainty silken flowers handsewn onto both tea- and floor-length dresses, slinky jersey red carpet gowns with sinuous mesh inserts that hint at Jun's penchant for the sensual, with the satiniest of royal purples appearing towards the end of the collection as an invigorant of sorts, reminding us that while the lineup floats with old world appeal, regalia in the form of a wickedly sexy short bishop-sleeved gown is very current, very now.
"It's a collection based on how I feel, how I think," Jun shares, additionally confiding that he is in a stage where he is keen on enjoying the pleasures of life. And from the collective luxury of his Fashion Watch outing, we can assume that Jun is in a very luscious, splendid, and full phase, indeed.
