Fashion Watch 2011: Ito Curata The veteran designer shows Venetian influences for his first solo show in Manila since his return.

The historic vistas of Venice inspired designer Ito Curata for his Holiday 2011 collection for Fashion Watch. The earthy colors of its black alleys, the gold-tinged rooftops of its storied buildings come sunset, the murky teals of its fabled waters—all of these showed themselves in Ito's elegant collection.

Cut from embroidered silks, wool, lace, and satin, there are work-appropriate pansuits and lacy little blouses paired with varied skirts that are perfect for evening dressing. The dresses are more suited for nighttime events as well, as Ito famously caters to a more mature market of ladies that needs its fair share of elegant ensembles for their social commitments. Standouts include this chic dress done in Christian Lacroix threadwork and this lacy ensemble—fit for the younger set—as well as this pale goldspun dress and soigné floor-length dress.
