Fashion Watch 2011: Arcy Gayatin Contrast and texture play from the Cebuana designer.

Cebu-based designer Arcy Gayatin's Holiday 2011 collection for Fashion Watch was heavy on cheerful contrasts. Opening with a knee-length dress cut from a black leather-like textile brightened by a yellow floral print and closing with a tweedy, texture-heavy asymmetrical gown, the collection seems like it was inspired by a rock 'n' roll chick gone dressy, as if she decided to dress up to frolic in the sun and get all smartly dolled up at night.

Arcy showed her fascination with textures with this outing, clearly enjoying manipulating fabrics to come up with various feels and finishes for her designs. Chiffon is cut raw and layered in concentric circles on top of plainer chiffon, as in this gray and yellow number. A black and white graphic fabric was distressed to reveal a sunshine-y layer in this tank dress, while a tweedy fabric was deconstructed for varied textures on this short dress. The colors are contrasting, too: black and gloomy gray are perked up by bright yellow and dashes of red and blue.

From the opening to the finale, there are plenty of choices to revel in should you want to play dress up and channel your inner rocker chic.
