Want to know more about the history of Filipino fashion without being buried in tons of dusty history books and old fashion magazines? Try going to the mall—to the Mall of Asia, that is, where Fashion Take: Images of Philippine Dress 1903-2012 is currently ongoing.
Fashion Take is an exhibit of archival or vintage photos, paintings, dresses, and sketches that highlight Philippine fashion as seen by Filipino photographers, artists, and designers. It spans more than a century—from 1903 to 2012—and showcases indigenous Filipinos in their native finery, fashion sketches of Filipino designers, lifestyle photographs of the Commonwealth period, contemporary fashion shoots of pioneering Filipino fashion photographers, as well as actual dresses from designers such as Ito Curata, Steve de Leon, and Dita Sandico-Ong.
The exhibit will run until June 13, 2012, and will travel to SM MegaMall and SM Pampanga.
