1. The Mayor of Kyoto is asking Kim Kardashian to rethink the use of the word "Kimono" as her brand's name.

In an open letter posted on Facebook, Kyoto Mayor Daisaku Kadokawa has asked Kim Kardashian-West to reconsider putting a trademark on the word Kimono. Kim recently launched the Kimono shapewear brand and appears to "have a trademark in the US for the brand 'Kimono Intimates' using a particular font," Quartz reports. While it doesn't mean that Kim owns the word "kimono" exclusively, her usage of the name has upset many, accusing Kim of culture appropriation.

2. Converse launches Renew, the shoe brand's new sustainable line.

Converse is moving towards a greener future as the brand announces that their "iconic canvas upper is now available in 100% recycled polyester that came from used plastic bottles." Called Converse Renew Canvas, the iconic Chuck Taylor All Star and Chuck 70 canvas shoes are made from the brand's new rPET yarn, which was created to copy the look and feel of the brand's iconic cotton canvas.

Renew Canvas pairs will be available by July 5 at Converse Glorietta, Commonwealth, and Case Study Atelier. Chuck 70 Hi will retail for P4990, while Chuck Taylor All Star Hi will be priced at P3390.

3. Jacquemus' 10th year was celebrated with a pink runway in the middle of a lavender field.

Simon Porte Jacquemus celebrated his eponymous label's 10th year anniversary in arguably the most picturesque show we've seen so far. Jacquemus' Spring 2020 collection debuted in the South of France, amidst a stretch of lavender fields. The models sashayed on a bright magenta runway clad in the French house's latest offerings. To say everything was super Insta-worthy would be an understatement!

4. Kenzo names Felipe Oliveira Baptista as its new creative director.

Former Lacoste creative director Felipe Oliveira Baptista officially replaces Carol Lim and Humberto Leon at the helm of Kenzo. Prior to his move to the French luxury fashion, Felipe held an eight-year tenure at Lacoste. "Under his creative leadership, Lacoste surpassed €2 billion in revenue," Business of Fashion reports.

5. Celine Dion makes a case for asymmetrical jeans.

Celine Dion just stepped out in a controversial denim trend you might want to consider too! She was spotted on the streets of Paris sporting a feathered tube top paired with asymmetrical jeans made by Ukranian label Ksenia Schnaider. The dramatic statement jean features a skinny cut on one leg and a flared cut on the other.
