Everything You Need to Know About Meghan Markle's Wedding Dress She looked stunning!

After months of guessing, we're finally able to answer the question everyone has been asking: What will Meghan Markle's wedding dress look like? And more importantly, who designed it? In an earlier interview with Glamour, Meghan shares that her wedding dress preference falls in the classic and simple territory. She says, "I have the luxury of wearing beautiful pieces of clothing every day for work, so my personal style—wedding or not—is very pared down and relaxed. Classic and simple is the name of the game, perhaps with a modern twist." Now, did she opt for the uncomplicated, clean look? Here's everything you need to know about Meghan's wedding dress:

Who designed the gown?

Fans initially speculated that Ralph & Russo, Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney, and Meghan's close designer friends like Misha Nonoo and Roland Mouret would design the Duchess of Sussex's wedding dress. However, Meghan walked down the aisle in a Givenchy gown designed by the fashion house's first female artistic director Clare Waight Keller. It featured a bateau neckline with long sleeves, reminiscent of Audrey Hepburn's wedding gown in Funny Face, designed by Hubert de Givenchy himself. According to the Kensington Palace, Meghan chose the British designer "for her timeless and elegant aesthetic, impeccable tailoring, and relaxed demeanor."

The two worked together on the design and created a dress that is true to the heritage of the house, featuring clean lines achieved “using six meticulously placed seams” and made from “an exclusive double bonded silk cady.” The main feature of the dress is the open bateau neckline and the sweeping train that “flows in soft round folds cushioned by an underskirt in triple silk organza,” the Kensington Palace adds.

Meghan’s five-meter veil features “the distinctive flora of each Commonwealth country united in one spectacular floral composition” and is made “from silk tulle with a trim of hand-embroidered flowers in silk threads and organza.

How much did it cost?

Royal etiquette dictates that Meghan's gown should not cost more than Kate Middleton's Alexander McQueen lace wedding dress. Royal expert Katie Nicholls told Entertainment Tonight in an interview, "Kate Middleton's dress cost £150,000. It was her parents, Carol and Michael Middleton, who paid for that bill. I think it was very unlikely that Meghan would spend more than that and, in doing so, try and upstage a future queen."

Did Meghan strictly follow the royal wedding dress protocols?

CBS News sums that royal brides are expected to uphold a certain level of modesty when it comes to their choice of wedding gown. This essentially called for brides to wear long sleeves, choosing not to bare their shoulders or show cleavage. Meghan went for a minimalist gown that had her fully-covered, although she did show a bit of skin with the bateau neckline subtly baring her shoulders.
